Clearing the snow

Over the past three weeks we've pretty much had non stop snow. I can't remember this much snow falling consistently for such a long period. I decided to take some photos so show you just how much we had. This first photo shows how much snow we had on our deck compared to the size of a regular garbage can.

And all that snow had to go somewhere. This pile of snow is actually the second load cleared off the deck. Nicholas and I had fun jumping ove the railings and landing in the landslide. I found out that even though he's nine, I can still throw him quite far!

One thing that I didn't even consider untill Shauna pointed it out is that all of the snow had also been piling up on my truck. It had been parked since September when I went on to parental leave. All that snow is quite a weight just sitting on the roof.

Here you can see how much snow had piled up next to the truck. I dug down to the grass.

And all this snow had fallen on top of all the snow that had fallen previous to that. And people settled here again why?

Changing the Design

Ok, so first off the bat I should apologise once again for not updating as much as I should. I know I seem to say this every few months or so but this time I have a really good reason. Those that need to know, already know and those that are sitting there in your little office chairs wanting to know, don't need to. Suffice to say the last six months have probably been the most stressfull six months I have experienced in my life. End of story. Plus I joined Twitter a year or two ago and post frequent updates there. You can follow me and my twitter feed in the sidebar on the right.

That leads me to my next item which is more to do with someone else than me. Nicholas has a new blog which he is having trouble focusing on and keeping it updated. So I said that if I can do it he can do it. Whenever he updates his I will reciprocate on mine and we'll compare how much I write compared to him. If you wanted to check out his new blog it's here: nick.deejaydoubleyou.com I was reluctant at first to change his address, (it used to be nicholas.deejaydoubleyou.com) but he said his friends at school call him that. His old site is still active. It has an old video of him when he was about six welcoming people to his new site which I wanted to keep.

Also this gives me the opportunity to re-design my site. I have wanted to do it for a while but just never seem to find the time. (Edit: I haven't changed the design, just the color scheme). This will also be the first update I have posted using a web interface at the posterous.com site. I used to open up an application on my Mac and update via that. Posterous lets me update through my browser... any browser... on any device. So maybe I should stop right here and see how well this works. As it goes I've typed more than Nicholas anyway Hahaha.

Hopefully more will follow.

I'm pretty sure I will get sent death threats for divulging this information. What I have just worked out will be big news. So big, I don't expect this web site will be online for much longer. All hell will break loose once I reveal it. It's the information 'THEY' don't want you to know but I'm prepared to make that sacrifice for the good of humanity. Without further ado, here it is;

When you are done washing your vehicle and you are just rinsing it off with 'clear' water, the car wash company is secretly injecting more soap into the stream to make you spend more time rinsing it off, thus making you just short of time to finish. Then you have to put in another token to finish the job. Seriously. I just went over that piece of my truck with the sprayer but mysteriously as I move on it looks like it's still soapy! Why? Because of the little soap injections always making you think you missed a bit!

First off, don't freak out about Ayden sleeping on his front. He is almost 3 months old and can lift his head and actually turns it from side to side while he is sleeping. Secondly, we don't put him to sleep like this overnight. At the moment he is still sleeping in his bassinet beside our bed. Up until recently we have had a hard time putting him down to sleep anywhere let alone his own bed. It seems that whenever we get him asleep, as soon as we lay him down on his back in his bed or on the couch or wherever, within 2 minutes he's awake. I decided to try and lay him down on his front one day as he always seems to fall asleep on my chest. Low and behold, he stayed asleep. We have the baby monitor beside us at all times and also go in to his room just to make sure he is still breathing :)
Well this last time I checked on him he had switched the side he was laying on and also started to suck his thumb.
