If you ever want to know how fast your internet is, I recommend speedtest.net. They are very accurate and the user interface is well laid out. It tests your download and upload speed as well as your ping rate, which is good if you are an online gamer. In basic terms your computer sends packets of information the server and it responds by sending you information back, thus giving you a ping rate. Basically you want high download speeds and low ping rates. Here is my speed test:
